There is a question at the center of Further North:
What would it take to build a life closer to the land?
This is where I'll work through that question in writing.
Further North is a long-term journey toward finding a place in northern Wisconsin or the southwest Upper Peninsula, learning practical skills, and making room for a more intentional life. There is plenty still to figure out. I want to share that process as it unfolds.
The videos will show the places, projects, and progress. Field Notes will make room for the details: why a decision matters, what a small experiment teaches, and which questions are worth carrying into the next step.
What you'll find here
Once a month, I'll send a personal update, one useful lesson or observation, and a link to the latest from Further North when there's something new to watch.
The early letters will focus on finding the right place and defining what this life should look like. As the project develops, the notes will follow the work.
A question to begin with
Before choosing a piece of land, it helps to ask what you want an ordinary day there to feel like.
What work would you want to do? What would you want nearby? What would you be willing to maintain? Those questions can make a beautiful view into a more thoughtful decision.
They're a starting point for this project—and a useful place to begin if you're thinking about a change of your own.
